Lunar Femmes – “Stargazers”

“Stargazers” by Lunar Femmes is a galactic, expansive, atmospheric work akin to Charles Ives’s “The Unanswered Question”, but in a 21st-century popular adaptation.  With a series of synthetic waves of sound, twinkling starlight bell tones, and a reverberant, tremolo effect throughout, the images that come to my mind are satellites blinking by, shooting stars as one lies on a field at dusk, and endless, colorful waves of solar wind manifesting themselves as the Northern Lights.  The track aptly captures this scenery, while bridging the gap between the old avant-garde and the new, popular experimental genres.  I encourage you to take a deep listen to this piece, sonically taking in the night sky above.
