“Sky And Flora” by Jon Meyer is a rich, deep composition filled with wonder and beauty, accompanied by a video of the same vibrancy.
Jon Meyer – “Sky And Flora” – Music Review
Beginning with a single piano note flowing like a stream (and illustrated as such in the music video), the tune builds slowly, introducing us to a crystal clear world of open expanses, far-afield gazes, and a balance of stillness and motion.
As the video takes us through rural areas, we follow a runner searching for a paper note. It is this runner, traversing open fields, running alongside railroad tracks, and venturing into the woods, all to find and read this note, that creates a sense of visual wonder.
Yet, wonder and intrigue are what the music speaks to even without the video. The strings hint continuously at a larger harmonic picture. The arpeggios in the background use an inversion that does not resolve. The guitars interject, hinting at something–but what are they hinting at?
The work overall stands alone musically, beseeching us to stop and think. The video does this as well, and together with the music the result is nothing short of breathtaking. Enjoy the music and video. It is worth each second.

From the Artist
“Cinematic, beautiful, and inspiring. Layers of piano, guitars and strings with pace and energy, yet delicate and longing. ”
Based in Dallas, Texas, Jon Meyer writes the type of music that helps us slow down. A blend of moody, haunting layers hinting toward melancholy yet full of beauty and hope. A sea of repetitive motion and instrumental virtuosity, lulling us to sleep while simultaneously sparking our creativity. Jon is a lover of sound and the way it moves us, whether it be through the immediacy of an intimate piano or guitar performance, or the other worldly manipulation of electronics and environmental sounds.
