Mortimer Jackson’s “She Was Born On Mars” is a trippy, celestial galaxy of 60s psychedelia meeting modern indie rock and progressive production.Wait for the first pre-chorus; strangely enough, that is the real hook–the verses are fine, but the pre-chorus prepares one for the beautiful choruses.  The fusion of strings, acoustic guitars, crunchy guitars, and harmonized vocals construct the trance-inducing vibe quite well.  While a bit rough around some edges, that is part of the joy of the work: the chord progressions and musical content flow well, and are quite human.  This is not a computerized-sounding track; rather, it grooves and moves its shape around, giving this intergalactic subject the elegance of the woman who is born on another planet.
