Reminiscent of early-2000s punk/rock/indie fusion, “Silver Spoons” modernizes this style and creates something impactful. The track is not awash in reverb, but rather relies on a stable backbone that uses guitars spread at the edge of the stereo spectrum to create a punchy chorus complemented by emphatic drums and bass.
I could imagine this song taking off; granted, it is not weird enough for today’s alternative rock hits, but that is a defining and welcome feature in this track. Featuring slightly distorted guitars, the track isn’t too heavy despite being a bit on the bass-leaning side. The band is also quite tight.
