The track “Riches to Rags” by Proxy Youth has an addictive chorus that will leave you humming it (if not singing along). The gritty, lo-fi mixing is still quite well done; it just is in a different style than the clean, clear indie sound rampant in today’s mixes.
The track is a commentary on today’s world, presented in an interesting way. However, I am still fascinated by the guitar tones, the high pitched effects squeals by the instruments, and the grooving drums. Born out of the ashes of Nirvana and the grunge era, this track succeeds in building off the 90s’ successes without being derivative.
