A melancholy, lush track from Lake Notion, the self-titled “Lake Notion” speaks of a certain richness and depth of emotion that is refreshing. The mix is very reverb-heavy, leading to a sense of spaciousness and a lot of activity. I feel that with a less active reverb, the work may “pop” even more, but then again the sense of distance and motion contribute to the overwhelming feeling of solitude that perpetuates this track.
The vocal lines are refreshing in that the singer sticks to a range that is comfortable, but not too dark or gritty. I am a fan of the guitar tone, too. Despite the wash of reverb, the band is very tight. I encourage you to take a listen to this track (player below):
